Stemtree Education Center

Stemtree Education Center

Stemtree is a K-12 education center that offers science, coding, robotics, electricity & electronics, and mathematics curricula. Stemtree offers non-repeating, multi-concept, award winning camps year-round. In fact, Stemtree camps have been voted the best summer camp in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Our programs are not structured in a traditional classroom setting. At Stemtree, we provide all students with one-on-one instruction. This customized learning style is considered a highly effective learning environment for students. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.

Coding with Fun: Scratch (Grades 1-3) and Python (Grades 4-6)

Grades: 1st - 6th Ages: 6 - 12

Description

Students will code in either Python or Scratch based on their grade level.

Grades 4-6: Python is one of the most popular programming languages used in data sciences and machine learning today. Unfortunately, a text-based learning environment to teach Python is not the right educational environment for younger kids. The heavy amounts of typing, typos, and syntax errors present major hurdles to children and discourage them from going beyond their first “Hello World” program. At Stemtree, we introduce Python to students using a familiar, friendly, and easy-to-use environment that helps enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills with our fun, engaging, and grade-level activities. Students will learn Python computer programming concepts in a fun and interactive way to create their own games and solve real-life problems. As students advance, they will be taught concepts like loops, lists, class structure, and many more. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after-school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.

Grades 1-3: This Stemtree’s Coding After School Program uses Scratch and teaches students the concepts of computer programming in a fun and interactive way while developing their basic reasoning and problem-solving skills. We teach students how to create and develop computer programs (games, stories, etc.) instead of playing them. They will combine multimedia elements to create and share their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art. Students will also create their own computer programs to implement computer games and combine multiple concepts taught throughout the program. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after-school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.

Build-Your-Own Electrical Circuit

Grades: K - 6th Ages: 6 - 12

Description

Children are fascinated by lights and sounds but know little about the circuits and electronics behind them. We make it easy for children to learn with practical hands-on activities and experiments. Not only are these activities fun, safe, and easy; they will introduce children to the field of engineering and inspire them to become tomorrow’s problem solvers. Students’ proficiency in electronics are assessed during the first session and based on the outcome of the assessment, are divided into groups of no more than two. Students who have attended previous Stemtree programs will have different activities and continue learning new concepts based on their prior work. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.

Robo-Fun

Grades: 1st - 6th Ages: 6 - 12

Description

All facets of our life are affected by engineering -- genetic, civil, software -- just to name a few. To be successful in the field of engineering, creative problem-solving abilities are a must. Robo-Fun uses the wonder and genius of robots to inspire students to learn engineering, apply their knowledge and skills of basic science, model construction, computer programming, and problem solving to explore STEM concepts. This program utilizes instructional time, assessments, and hands-on activities to reinforce key concepts and improve problem-solving skills while having fun. Robo-Fun is both a perfect introduction to the world of robotics for younger students and an opportunity to expand the knowledge base of older students. It is important to note that children who attended our previous Stemtree camps or our after school program(s) will have different activities and continue learning new STEM concepts based on their prior work with us.
